Maybe We Do Live In Paatal Lok

[Viewer Discretion] - The Following blog discusses sensitive topics, and may be more relevant to viewers that have watched "Paatal Lok." This summer, I decided to dive into a few Hindi series - It was after the recommendation of my friend that I finally caught up on Mirzapur too. One of the recommendations of his that I completed was "Paatal Lok", and no content I've ever watched has invigorated me to leave my blog niche aside and talk about an adult crime series more than Paatal Lok.  The show starts off with four people, that are accused to being culprits of being involved in a plan to murder a popular news journalist. Once arrested, our cop - and the main character of the show, Hathi Ram Chaudary, along with his junior, Ansari, try to solve the case. However, after minimal progress on paper, the case is taken away from them and is handed over to CID, which sees potential and turns what'd rather be a small story to a terrorist conspiracy - which the news ...

Artificial Intimacy

The inspiration for this blog started from an advertisement I saw for a new product from a company known as "orchid.ai", the advertisement went something like this :- The startup Orchid introduced its personal assistant with a now-viral video, following a woman whose partner has forgotten their anniversary. After she tells Orchid what happened, the assistant contacts him, books a dinner reservation, arranges a flower delivery, and keeps her updated on his progress. At the end, the video poses a perfect make-up anniversary date. Ideally, you'd expect it to be a feel-good video, but there's a huge discomfort you feel when you try to interpret the impact of the ad, and what it tries to imitate and replace. Firstly, the ad shows the AI Agent responding in a way how you'd expect a close friend of your age to ideally respond - with those extra letters, sarcasm, exclamations, etc. Eventually making you feel the need to discuss everything with it. Instead of perhaps, revi...

Exams And AI

I've come to a few educated conclusions after giving both my major semester exams within the span of a month. Let's discuss those below :- AI Agents are the biggest gold-diggers In order to ensure I have a supporter by my side for these exams, I decided to enrol for the free trial for the ChatGPT Plus subscription. Turns out, if it thinks you can afford it, it decides to act really differently with you. For my theory heavy exams, when I asked it to create notes but couldn't specify how many pages - it was ready to create notes for around 80 pages with good formating. That was more pages than I'm planning to read for all of university. It wasn't giving me silly answers, didn't interrupt me between my prompts to tell me that my limit is getting over because I'm too poor to deserve more efforts and processing power for its side. I did feel bad knowing I'm this dependant on GPT for all my exam prep, I was sending it all my PPTs, reminding it to cover everyth...

O' Romeo - About The Animalification Of Movies

In this world I live in, it's dangerous to state I'm a fan of Sandeep Reddy Vanga - the man who directed "Animal", and it's justified, to be honest. Because you never know how much may a movie impact someone, but lately we've been seeing how it impacts other movies. O' Romeo, the latest installment of a Vishal Bhardwaj film. The reason I went for the movie is because he's the most praised as a director, known for his slow but steady storytelling, his cinematography, soundtrack and direction - And I went in with an optimistic mindset, but it was a crazy experience to find out all I could draw out was a parallel - a parallel between other movies that've tried to imitate elements of the "Animal" film with overtly bloody violence, toxic "masculinity" and foul language - which the director justifies as it's with the same frequency people in this generation use in their daily lives. Which I'd consider valid too, but I wonder i...

The Paradox Of Dhurandhar

So, I've finally watched Dhurandhar. Let's review it. This movie is still leading it's 1000 crore+ run in the box office, the media, the Bollywood industry and the average moviegoer crowd. But there are things that need to be talked about because when the crowd finds a good, theatre-worthy movie - a lot of aspects are overseen. I'll start by saying that this is a great movie, with a lot of effort put into it - be it the music, writing, CGI & VFX, acting. Every actor played their part to the fullest and did justice to the role. It's even harder considering the movie tries to base itself on sources to convey a true story through theatrical effects - and it does work out really well. The movie invigorates a feeling of injustice, agony, helplessness and rage among every Indian.  After all, Patriotism is its own genre in Indian Cinema. But that also seemed to be the biggest problem for me in this movie. The movie did fall flat in particular areas in terms of pacing a...

What Does It Mean To Be Superman?

Superman. You know who I'm talking about because he's a globally recognised character. You imagined a handsome, strong man in a blue suit with a buckle belt and red trunks. The strongest man in our universe. With James Gunn's Superman movie releasing on July 11th and people giving it a negative reception — being fans of the previous Zack Snyder's Man of Steel — I decided to review both movies. What Superman Stands For :- See, Superman's always been this bright character. Someone who doesn't believe that the world can be a dark place. Everyone deserves another chance, and he's a hero kids wouldn't be afraid of approaching. The Cinematic Experience That Went Underappreciated: Man Of Steel I went in without any major expectations. And I was pretty blown away. People were not lying about the cinematography or the music. Henry Cavill is truly a handsome man who rocks the Superman look and the suit pretty perfectly too. This movie is the perfect example of how...

Your Early Convocation.

Good Afternoon, It feels unsettling yet exciting to be here. Knowing we'll have to choose what needs to be taken ahead with us and what needs to be left behind. It's always a hard choice, just like the many we've made to be here andstand confidently knowing we'll do well in one of the most overhyped exams of our country.  And in case you don't, well there's nothing we can do about it. Improvements are always available. But you see. Life's this one mixed fruit cocktail of regrets, emotions, learnings and qualities.  And yeah, it tastes quite bitter if there's too much of too less of any of those. Right now, I'm sure many of you feel overwhelmed knowing what kind of new worlds will all of you be entering. You've all got questions like "Will My college be the right choice?" Or "will I get a good friend group?" Or like me, "will I finally get a girlfriend?"  The questions one could have is endless. None of y'all can ...
